Over the past five years, Swiss Pro Boxing has established itself as Switzerland’s leading boxing promoter. Last Saturday, the promotion took the leap across the border with an event in Wangen im Allgäu, Germany.

In the main event, German super-lightweight Timo Schwarzkopf (22-5-0, 13 KOs) faced the experienced Mexican Miguel Vazquez (44-12-0, 17 KOs). The 36-year-old former world champion, with over 50 professional fights, pushed Schwarzkopf to his limits. Over ten rounds, a closely contested battle unfolded, reaching its turning point in the eighth round when Schwarzkopf scored a knockdown with a left hook – the decisive moment of the evening. Schwarzkopf went on to win unanimously on points, moving him into the top 60 of the world rankings.

“The event was perfectly organized and very well executed. Currently, there is probably no more professional promoter in Germany,” Schwarzkopf praised after the fight.

The undercard featured nine additional professional bouts. Biel newcomer Christopher Mouafo (5-0-0, 4 KOs) also stepped into the ring. The powerful lightweight went the full distance for the first time in his professional career and won unanimously on points against Nicaraguan Cardoza (26-22-1, 8 KOs).

Swiss Pro Boxing has already announced its next event, returning to Switzerland: On April 7, the next major boxing night will take place at the Bern Stadttheater.
