Swiss Pro Boxing signs promising new talent from Graubünden: Gianni Passanante turns professional, bringing a strong boxing heritage and international experience to the team.

Another Swiss talent is stepping into the professional ranks with Swiss Pro Boxing: 21-year-old super welterweight Gianni Passanante (1.82 m) from Chur will make his pro debut on September 27, 2025, at Theater Basel. Two more fights are already scheduled – on November 1 in Fribourg and December 26 at the Boxing Day in Bern.
Passanante brings a strong foundation and international experience. He has competed in 36 Olympic-style bouts under a Swiss license, around 20 amateur fights in Italy, and over 10 fights in the United States, mostly in New York. His months of training in the U.S. are documented by a photo with legendary coach Freddie Roach on his Instagram profile.
He trains under Dino Caputo at Boxschule Passanante, founded by his late father Franco Passanante, a former professional boxer who passed away last year. Alongside his athletic career, Gianni runs the family’s stone-sculpting business in Chur on a 50% basis – a setup that allows him to train twice a day.
Swiss Pro Boxing describes Passanante as a disciplined, open-minded athlete with a clear long-term development plan and strong potential for growth.
