For the seventh time, Swiss Pro Boxing transformed the Stadttheater Bern into a boxing arena with the event “Boxen statt Theater.” Six professional fights offered the audience a unique event experience.
In the ring, Jason Kongolo impressed in his professional debut, as did Ticino’s Georgi Tanchev and Félix Meier. In the main event, Meier stopped his Finnish opponent in the fourth round, securing his eighth win in eight fights. At just 21 years old, he continues to confirm his progression from promising talent to headline fighter.
However, the evening was overshadowed by the last-minute cancellation of the double title fight featuring Angelo Peña. “When you prepare and organize such a title fight over months, a cancellation is very disappointing,” said Leander Strupler. “The many encouraging and understanding messages we received on site did, however, restore some optimism.”
Outside the ring, the event also attracted a number of prominent guests. Peña himself, WBO world champion Gabriela Timar, and musician Büne Huber followed the fights from the front rows.
