Timar Claims WBO Title
Gabriela Timar (38) delivered a commanding performance in the only women’s fight at Boxing Day 2024. The Romanian-born, Basel-based boxer defeated her twelve-years-younger opponent, Yoselin Carmen Fernandez, decisively on points. In the bout for the prestigious WBO International Mini Flyweight title, Timar cleverly leveraged her reach advantage, leaving her Venezuelan opponent with no opportunity to counter. With this victory, she moves closer to a potential WBO World Championship fight.
Félix Meier Impresses Again
Félix Meier (20) from Lausanne made another strong statement in his young professional career. In only his second pro fight, he delivered an impressive early knockout victory. His opponent was unable to withstand the power and precision of the rising talent. Coached by Alain Chervet and known for his “Mexican Style”, Meier impressed not only with his boxing skills but also with his grounded and likeable personality.
Huber Makes a Comeback
A spectacular highlight of the evening was cruiserweight Benoit Huber (38), personal boxing coach to Sion football club boss Christian Constantin. Huber, who has fought exclusively on the international stage over the past two years, secured a clear victory against Bosnian Adnan Deronja. He demonstrated not only technical skill but also tactical intelligence, keeping his aggressively charging opponent firmly under control throughout the fight.
